We are so sorry that this week’s concert was cancelled at such short notice – our singer Olive sent her deepest apologies but could barely talk, let alone sing!
We have however a wonderful concert to end the year this coming Wednesday, 18 December, at 1pm when Cambridge Voices will take centre stage. Their Director, Ian de Massini, writes:
Cambridge Voices, under the direction of their Founder and Director, Ian de Massini,
return once again to present another of their engaging, innovative, and illuminating
festive lunchtime concerts for the season of Christmas.
The programme includes a special tribute to Sir Stephen Cleobury,
Director of Music for 38 years at King’s College, Cambridge,
who died on St Cecilia’s Day this year.
There’ll also be a tribute to the composer John Joubert,
who also died earlier this year.
Their programme also includes no less than four Christmas pieces
that were specially commissioned, by Ian, to mark his recent 60th birthday,
and which will conclude with the World Premiere
of a new version of I’m dreaming of a white Christmas!
Here’s the full programme:
John Gardner Tomorrow shall be my dancing day
John Wilson Rosa vernans
Ian de Massini Salve Regina
Benjamin Britten Hymn to the Virgin
John Joubert There is no rose of such virtue
Tristan Latchford I sing of a maiden
Sir Philip Ledger Stille Nacht
Ian de Massini. Mary & Joseph
Sir Stephen Cleobury Away in a manger
Ian de Massini I’m dreaming of a white Christmas
The choir has very generously provided mince pies which we’ll be serving after the concert; and we’ll look forward to seeing many of you there!
